    Remember

Gustar works backwards compared to English: the person who likes becomes the pronoun, and the thing you like is the subject. Me gusta el café means “I like coffee,” literally “coffee pleases me”; me gustan los gatos is “I like cats.” That's why in everyday speech you'll see it almost only in the 3rd person: gusta and gustan.

    Watch out

“I like” is not “yo gusto”: it's me gusta. With plural things, gustan: me gustan las flores.

    Examples with gustar

    Me gusta el café.

    I like coffee.

    Mexico

    ¿Te gustan los perros?

    Do you like dogs?

    Spain

    Nos gustó mucho la película.

    We really liked the movie.

    Argentina
